Vacuum Furnace Elements

Molybdenum or Tungsten are the ideal choice when you need to achieve long life at high temperatures in a vacuum furnace. These materials operate trouble-free at high temperatures for years and low vapor pressure allows them to be used in a vacuum. National Element Inc. makes heating elements of all sizes and types including: Rod, Bar, Strip, Wire and Cable.  We form, twist, coil, weld, braze, machine and grind components  for new designs, replacements, upgrades and emergency repairs.

National Element Inc. stocks a wide range of popular sizes for:

  • Elements
  • Hangers
  • Connectors
  • Terminals

Molybdenum

Pure Molybdenum can heat furnaces to 1900 °C, (3452 °F);  or power elements up to 100 watts per square inch (of element surface area).  Connection point issues are rare due to Molybdenum’s low resistivity. Moly withstands high temperatures, resists sagging and breaking and is an excellent conductor of electricity.

Tungsten

Tungsten is used as heating elements in electric furnaces which must withstand high temperatures. Because retains its strength at high temperatures and has a high melting point, elemental tungsten is used in many high-temperature applications. In addition, Tungsten is extremely corrosion resistant. The advantages of using Tungsten electrical heating elements are its high mechanical and thermal stability, low creep deformation and long life span
